Investing with the Hikma Partnership
The Hikma Partnership is hosted by Word of Life, and our steering group is made up of BMB leaders from across the world representing the different contexts where BMBs live. We offer the Lord our hands and feet and pray he uses us to grow his kingdom. Like the child with the five loaves and two fish, we have seen over and over again how God has multiplied the work we do, through providing partners across the world who understand and support our vision to share the work with us.
“We like the focus on partnerships - we want to see BMBs themselves growing as healthy disciples, so we like the way Word of Life/Hikma Partnership encourages them to lead."
One example of partnerships is our publishing pathway. The team bring together experienced editors with authors to support them in completing their manuscript, and then facilitate the publishing process through Regnum Books.

Our next book is due very soon! From Conflict to Hope: Voices from Emerging Indigenous Leaders of North African, Middle Eastern and Iranian Christians has been produced from the discussions at a consultation for BMB church leaders about what it looks like to follow Christ and the challenges involved in cutting a new path that will not be understood by the majority of the people.
“This book presents this daring and honest material to a wider audience in the hope and expectation that it will contribute to the development of healthy, vibrant fellowships in many contexts,” says co-editor Roy Oksnevad.
We also work in partnership with the Paths of Life Network (BMB discipleship course writers and providers) to explore BMB discipleship challenges. Together we chose ‘family life’ as the first theme, running online forums on marriage and parenting in 2023 and 2024. The Forums, with a wide invite to all BMBs and those who live/serve with them to participate, aim to bring up some of the particular challenges facing BMBs in the topic area. Each is attended by a wide group of contributors and participants from a variety of contexts and experiences.
These are followed by Panel gatherings, where a smaller number of BMBs and invited contributors (researchers, pastoral workers and course writers) look at the challenges in more detail and consider some of the ways these have been effectively addressed. The Panels inform resources for BMBs and for the wider church, accessible in written, audio and visual formats. They also provide a research base for discipleship course and other resource development. The Marriage Panel report is already available to Hikma partners, and we expect to release an edited volume of BMB perspectives shared there in 2025. Word of Life’s team of course writers has nearly finished the first draft of a marriage study course, which will be field tested in 2025.
We’re passionate about providing opportunities for our BMB brothers and sisters to grow, learn, develop, share and collaborate. Although we share the work we do with partners and volunteers, we still have to fund our small core staff team and the costs of publishing, gathering and mentoring. Is God calling you to invest in the church of the future by supporting our work with BMBs in 2025? Your gift could:
- support a BMB to attend the parenting panel
- provide a BMB with mentoring and encouragement to complete their academic, pastoral or creative project
- help us share resources in new contexts
“I was impressed by the team, who whole-heartedly love the Lord and want to see his kingdom come amongst brothers and sisters in the Muslim world. As an educator I was also impressed by the quality of the resources and the emphasis on hearing from BMBs and promoting their voices in the church. It’s a joy to serve with this group and watch how the Lord is blessing its ministry worldwide.”
