BMB experiences of marriage across the world

Following 2023's online Forum, we recently gathered a smaller group of believers from a Muslim background (BMBs) and others who live and work in BMB contexts, to talk more together about the challenges facing BMB couples and look at some of the ways the church can help address these.

It was a privilege to listen to our brothers and sisters sharing their stories and ideas. From internal challenges of lack of understanding of gender identity and authority, to external pressures from extended family and legal systems, it was clear that there is a real need for tools and resources to support couples as they explore a biblical model for relating to each other and their community.

Although the contributors represented a variety of BMB contexts and the diaspora, some common themes of Islamic worldview carried into Christian discipleship began to emerge. It was noticeable how many times we heard, 'that's similar to my context'. We were joined by a small group of course developers who are now shaping a new discipleship course to address this worldview change needed.

The group identified several research outputs as well, and we will continue to facilitate these through the year. Hikma Partners will be able to access an interim report on the panel through hikmapartnership.org later this spring.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for this event and gave towards our conference expenses.
