In April 2022 our Training Coordinator retires. Flora Davies has worked with Word of Life for three years, bringing her experience of coordinating other courses and of using the Come Follow Me course into creating our Training track. 

In this time Flora has developed our training workshop content, created an online small group learning resource and adapted the materials to train groups over Zoom. Tim Green, director, comments: “Flora’s strategic thinking has helped our contacts turn what they had attended with us into something they could use themselves to train others. We are grateful for God’s calling and generous provision of her to Word of Life and for the wisdom she has brought into the Word of Life team.”

Flora leaves the track with some national teams in place and others developing, as we seek to equip advisors to mentor new believers from a Muslim background more effectively.

As we prepared for Flora’s handover, Word of Life undertook a thorough search around the world to find the right person to take on this part time role of coordinating and developing networks to equip people to use Come Follow Me and future courses, receiving a large number of applicants.

We are very pleased to announce that Rev Tilaye Daba was selected and begins as International Training Coordinator on 1 April with a one month overlap with Flora.

Tilaye brings much leadership experience from his work in the large Mekane Yesus denomination in Ethiopia, and has already helped to spearhead the Come Follow Me training there. He has a heart for believers to be discipled well.

Tilaye is married with three children, two sons and a daughter. Two will shortly graduate from university and the youngest is in her first year of medicine.

Tilaye says: “I am excited about joining the Word of Life leadership team and about doing this role of International Training Coordinator because it is a new experience to serve with a larger group, and it is a chance to learn a new way of serving the Kingdom.”
